When I began volunteering at EOI I thought I was going out to help the horses. What is in fact true, is that being at the ranch feeds my soul. My intent was to go to the ranch to help these poor abused and neglected animals. Instead they teach me repeatedly, that with consistent hard work and nurturing, one can not only survive abuse but heal and thrive. These noble animals who have experienced the worst of human's , respond to love and kindness. They learn to trust again and they give us another chance at being kind and good. My week is not complete unless I spend time not only giving treats and giving love to the horses but being with the remarkable people who make this happen.
