HOW TO ADOPT
Equine Outreach’s primary goal is to re-home and rehabilitate horses in need of placement into responsible, compassionate, forever homes. Our adoption procedures are designed to ensure that the horses go to homes where they will receive appropriate and loving care.
Are You Ready to Adopt a Horse From
Adopters must be at least 21 years old.
Understand the commitment you are making: financially, emotionally, and with your time.
Adopters must fill out an Adoption Application Form. The submission of this application, along with a non-refundable $25 fee, starts the review process for an adoptive home. Please download the form, print and complete, and either mail it to the address at the bottom of this page or scan it and email it to EquineOutreach@Yahoo.com
Contact us to schedule a site visit. This is required to make sure your facility meets the health and safety requirements for adoption (i.e. no barbed wire, no uncapped t-posts, shelter provided, etc.).
Once your application is approved and you've selected a horse for adoption, please contact us to schedule a time with us to be sure you and your chosen horse are a suitable match. You are responsible for any trainer or veterinarian checks prior to adoption.
Once the adoption process is completed, the expectation is that you take the horse home within 5 days. After 5 days the horse will be offered for adoption unless other arrangements are made with the Board of Directors.
If an adopted horse does not seem to be a good fit, please reach out to us to discuss the situation. Equine Outreach is committed to ensuring that our horses are placed in forever homes, so if things are not working out, we want to be part of the solution!

"A day in September 2018 as I scrolled Facebook one evening a picture came across my screen from a place I didn’t know existed. The picture was 3 horses standing together in the sunlight looking towards the camera. I, being a horse lover and in the market to get back into horsemanship, decided to see what the post was about." - Amanda
"I was drawn to the shy colt in the back at first. A month went by where I was almost certain this little family would be taken into loving, forever homes. Then, another post, reaching out to find them a place before winter hit. WHAT?!?! I can’t believe it, I thought to myself. So I began some networking with my neighbor."
"Back in August 2018, EOI rescued a little family in need of a new home, feed, and medical care. Jasmine, the white Arab mare pictured below, starved herself to feed her twins. These twins were adopted together by a wonderful family."
